First of all the article's purpose is clearly to tie Barack Obama to another potentially shady dude. The weird thing though is that even the link is tenuous.
Connections specified in the article:
QUOTE
Mr. Walsh, who served in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2005, was endorsed by Mr. Obama in his county executive election bid
QUOTE
a poker-playing buddy of Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama.
QUOTE
They are seen hugging each other in photos before Mr. Obama's announcement that he was running for president.
So they're friendly and from the same place. Got it
What's the investigation for? Maybe this is actually a big deal?
QUOTE
Mr. Walsh denied any knowledge of any investigation. "I don't have a clue what you are talking about," Mr. Walsh said in reports published Thursday in the Chicago Sun-Times.
Well that's weird. He either has no idea he's under investigation or this is a "these are not the droids you are looking for" moment
QUOTE
According to sources, the Walsh investigation may be tied to lobbying firm Smith Dawson and Andrews, which was hired in 2006 for $10,000 per month to help Will County acquire federal grants.
Oh I see. This is an alley-oop. Lump Obama in with a guy who's under investigation for potentially paying a lobbyist to help him get grants. What for though?
QUOTE
Last month, Mr. Walsh announced that Will County was the recipient of a $750,000 federal government grant that would allow law enforcement and prosecutors to fight against domestic violence.
THAT MONSTER! Okay so he's established as a bad man. Here's the story as I see it:
Mr. Walsh hires a lobbyist firm in 2006 paying them 10k a month to help him get grants to help pay for law enforcement and prosecution of domestic violence and has received a (legal) 2k donation form a member of that firm. Barack Obama plays poker with this man, so he is obviously corrupt and untrustworthy.
Anybody see this differently?
/tinfoil hat says we might see more Obama friends getting investigated. If you can't give your candidate an october surprise you force one down your opponents throat.
