Seems like marijuana smokers, even heavy ones are no more likely to get cancer than non smokers. While cigarette smoking can be attributed with a 20 fold increase in cancer risk. Those suckers. It's all cancer and no high.
"While no association between marijuana smoking and cancer was found, the study findings, presented to the American Thoracic Society International Conference this week, did find a 20-fold increase in lung cancer among people who smoked two or more packs of cigarettes a day."
well yeah, smoking 2 packs a day for a year is already more cigarettes than a moderate lifetime of pot smoking (assuming 20 cigs/pack x 365.25 = 14610), so of course you're more likely to get fucked.
smoking that much is fucking sick, when before i quit i could only light up 3-4 cigarettes a day
Yeah it's not necessarily a fair comparison though. coffee's right. Heavy Pot Smoker = 3 - 4 joints/day Heavy Cig Smoker = 40 - 50 cigarettes/day
There is definitely a bit of an inconsistancy in the representation of figures, but the point remains. Nobody is smoking 40 joints a day. And so the risk of being a heavy pot smoker is still less. Also a heavy cigarette smoker carries the additional risk of becoming addicted.
I actually think many of them are statistically less common than people are willing to say. Somehow, for instance, I doubt that 25% of the world's population has genital herpes.
