In the Marines, we shoot two tables of fire. Table 1 and table 2. Table 1 is known distance from the 200, 300, and 500 yard lines using our M16A4 rifles or M4's. Table 2 is combat marksmanship wearing flaks and kevlars and doing firing drills. Max score on table 1 is a 250, and there is 100 points available on table 2, equaling a total of 350 when both are combined.
Table 1: 189 or less = fail 190-209 = marksman 210-219 = sharpshooter 220-250 = expert
When both are combined: 249 or less = fail 250-279 = marksman 280-304 = sharpshooter 305-350 = expert
With that said, we qualify every year. Last year I shot a combined score of 302 missing expert by 3 points. In boot camp, I shot a 300, missing it by 5.
This year I shot:
Table 1: 237 out of 250 Table 2: 88 out of 100
Combined score = 325 out of 350 My military signature shows my expert rifle badge now.
In the Marines, can you continue to wear it once it has been earned once, despite what you shoot later on? Or does it being worn depend on whether you qualified expert for that year?

I heard you can wear your highest badge, but I'm not too sure honestly.
That's some mighty nice shooting. Makes me wonder if I can still shoot. Used to qualify expert in the army on a regular basis. Of course it's much easier to qualify expert in the army.
