Got a job
  • Well I know some of you knew I was in school as an aspiring pilot. Since the airline problems I took the safer route and applied for an Air Traffic Control position. Took a test in March and got a 100 on it. This Monday I had an interview in NYC (for a job in Oberlin, OH) as an ATC for Cleveland Center. They offered me the job and gave me a tentative offer letter. As long as my background check passes I will receive a final offer letter in about a month. It takes that long because my security clearance will be top secret level.

They are going to let me finish my last semester of school as well so I can graduate. So looking to start in late December or early January. Unfortunately this means 4 months in Oklahoma City at the FAA Academy before I go to my facility in Oberlin.

But anyways, for those of you who were worried I would be your pilot, now you have to worry about me telling your pilot what to do.

The 4 months you spend at the academy is on a 20,000 salary + 83 dollars a day.

Once I get to my facility after that its 40,000 but... there are 4 stages of progression through training that take ~2 years to complete them all. Each progression you immediately get around a 15,000 raise, which leaves you at about 100,000 per year after your 2-3 years deep. Based on difficulty of the facility you get more or less money.
