TLDR version: "If I fuck up really bad, it's also on you, America. But likewise if I rock this shit to pieces and we come out of this with electric cars powered by water, world peace, a pony and a rainbow in every home and a budget surplus of 20 billion dollars, then you helped with that too. Hope it's the latter... but um... shit's all retarded right now, so no promises."
He also fubbed the first line of the oath and said he was the 44th man to be president or something else that neglected Grover Cleveland's weirdness.
Overall it's a step away from his campaign rhetoric, and there was a lot of focusing on the world community... blah blah. Read it if you care.
I thought it was pretty good. And I was starting to get tired of hearing his little interwarbl addresses a month ago.
The part of the speech I liked most (because it shows he might care about personal responsibility) was the following: “For as much as government can do and must do, it is ultimately the faith and determination of the American people upon which this nation relies. It is the kindness to take in a stranger when the levees break, the selflessness of workers who would rather cut their hours than see a friend lose their job which sees us through our darkest hours. It is the firefighter’s courage to storm a stairway filled with smoke, but also a parent’s willingness to nurture a child, that finally decides our fate. ”
However, it seems to me a lie: he probably believes the government should be housing a flood victim and not a private citizen, he probably believes unions should be able to get benefits for their workers no matter the industry’s financial problems, he probably wants government to nurture children because parents might fail to watch them or teach them diversity. I’m glad he recognizes the courage of a firefighter though, he cannot figure out some way to do away with that individual effort.
Yep, he sure has demonstrated that he has completely unreasonable socialistic tendencies. You're children (the ones he doesn't abort that is) will be seized by the Agency of Social Reform and re-educated in government owned diploma mills, where they won't be able to choose their majors, and all children come out with the skills needed by our great new society. There will be professional gun-melters, professional abortionists, professional media censorship personnel, and most importantly professional bootlickers, all on the government payroll paid by you, the taxpayer and forced to be gay-married in a mosque.
Welcome to the Obama-nation. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
edit: I liked, "know that your people will judge you on what you can build, not what you destroy." line, personally.
Yeah, I managed to find video and re-watched the whole thing, because I'm an obamaton, and I can't get enough of the messiah. Turns out Roberts fucked up the placement of the word "Faithfully" and there was some cadence weirdness too. Frankly, nobody really cares, and he was re-sworn anyway. FWIW he didn't have a hand on the Bible at the time.
