I find it rather strange that no one here as really commented on the car industry bail out lately as it has been in the news a lot. It is rather an absurd concept to me. Since when has the government been horribly efficient? When has the government been good at fixing companies? And why should the government give private businesses money because they suck at business?
Lately I have seen in the news is that in order to get the bailout money, they are going to be forced by the government to make some “hard decisions” with their business practices and turn their companies profitable….
This statement really confuses me. It means that if the government wasn’t going to step in to solve their bad business practices they were going to keep doing what they were doing before. It means that if the government decided not to bail them out, that the car industries would be perfectly happy losing boat loads of money.
A bailout isn’t going to fix their long term problems and it will be nothing but a quick fix in my opinion. And besides, I believe they can file for bankruptcy protection which will them even more time.
It didn't pass is why. It made it through the house because they wrote in a bunch of pay raises for themselves and some judges. It died after that though.
Ford is actually going to try and go without, which surprises me. I think that would actually do wonders for their image as a company that represents what it means to be American. I predict a killer ad campaign about picking yourself up by your bootstraps if GM and Chrysler get money and Ford doesn't.
Wow... I didn't hear this before. Ford is going to not ask for help... I was planning on buying a new Toyota, but I may get another Ford. This is great news.

Which is exactly what they are hoping people will do. They don't need to do much of anything else if they can ride the wave of "aren't we just the fucking greatest? buy our shit."
It's kind of a weird combination of the free market working in tandem with this socialism thing. By not taking taxpayer money the "value" of their vehicles sort of increases.
